Obstacles

What is it that makes a person want to find purpose in life, a reason for pressing on in spite of innumerable obstacles? Why don't I just give up in the face of opposition, but instead desire all the more to clarify my goals and fight all the harder to attain them? It seems that set-backs, road-blocks, and great obstacles only serve to fuel my desire to overcome. My determination solidifies when opposition comes. No, obstacles do not slow me down. My real enemy is apathy. It is indifference and a lazy comfortability that distracts me the most. I am lulled into a sleepy stupor when life is easy. I lose focus of the goal. I forget the prize. So bring on the attacks. Let me have many obstacles in my way. Then I am roused to press on and pursue my upward calling with all the more fervor.
